Would you recommend to put a flow master or magna flow to 2001 f250 w 7.3

 

This is one of those questions that will elicit responses that will start with "you can but a better muffler would be....insert the brand the respondent has...because of" Many on here run MBRP systems and go with that muffler. I have used magna flow before but I prefer an Aero Turbine.

I see it's your first post so welcome. What size exhaust are you running. While flow master sells full kits that are 4", most of their single mufflers are 3"

 

Not trying to pick nits... but this can get confusing: Are you referring to 3 1/2" or 3"? Why did you pick the Aero Turbine?

I have a Flo Pro and I can't really recommended it, due to drone at 50 MPH.

 

It all depends on what you want.

I am very happy with the Magnaflow kit I got. But, some would say it's too quiet.

 

Not sure what you are trying to discuss (3 1/2" or 3"). If you review the flow master site, the majority of the mufflers offered for our trucks are designed on a 3" inlet and outlet. I asked the question because the OP does not say if he is running a stock system or maybe already has 4" or even 5" pipes and is looking into flow master over what the OP might already have.

I ran magna flow and flow master on other trucks and I went with aero turbine because 1, better material and construction 2, less restrictive and 3, I find the sound produced from the AT to be better than FM or MF JMHO.

 

Stock exhaust is 3 1/2"

 

I am very happy with my Magnaflow with the 3.5" down pipe and 4" the rest of the way back. Nice sound but not loud, but I am an old f--t.

 

My truck is stock, and was just looking to put either or, and wondering which would be better for the truck

 

A stock truck will have a 3" down pipe into 3 1/2" from the down pipe back. The argument of "better" for the truck is a rough one as the forums are full of opinions. If you are looking to move a little more air, go with a 4" from the turbo back. If you are looking to make it louder, remove the current muffler and go with a straight pipe. Some keep the stock down pipe and then run a 4" back. I would argue that a large portion of the muffler debate comes down to personal preference.

If you are looking for a complete system, flowmaster has them, MBRP has them as well as other manufactures. My only advice is, if you are going to do it don't do what I did and purchase individual sections of tubing as it ended up costing me much more than just buying the whole system the first time. I ran a "Frankenstein" system for years that consisted of a 3" down pipe into 3.5" pipe to a 4" muffler then 4" from there. When I finally got around to doing it right I only needed a 4" down tube and the first 6 feet or so of 4" tubing and those individual parts cost me more than buying a complete 4" system.

I have BRUTAL drone at 1600 to 1900rpm with the BTM muffler and from the research I have done the MagnaFlow is the quietest.

If the drone is still there I'll slap one of these Drone killers in. I just can' take it any longer!

When I bought the truck it had a stock down pipe to a 4" magnaflow and 4" the rest of the way exiting before the rear tire. It sounded good at wot with a nice deep note and while normal driving it was quite. I'm still a younger guy so I ditched that set up for a ss straight pipe turbo back. I liked how the exhaust exited before the rear tire so I kept it that way.
