I looked around for a bit and couldn't find an answer to my question so here it goes:
I just bought a 2001 F150 Super Crew, and I need to install a hitch. While looking over the internet, I read somewhere that a F150 Super Crew is not really a F150 with 2 extra doors, but rather a Expedition with a truck bed. When looking for a trailer hitch on Amazon, the one I found fits a F150 (with no designation for a Super Crew), but does not fit an Expedition.
So I ask you, do I call it a F150, or do I call it an Expedition?
If you decode the VIN, it comes back as being a F150. I have never heard that a super crew is an Expedition with the back half removed. I believe that with the generation of F150, it shares the same frame with the Expedition. I am sure that someone will chime in that know for sure, but I think that you will be fine with the hitch that you found.
I think you guys are right. I asked the same question in the Amazon product page, and got responses from people who had installed the hitch with no problems (was going to say without a hitch). Thanks for the help.
I have a super crew, I learned the front doors on a super crew are the same as an expedition. I was trying to find better mirrors for towing and found out that the doors are different than the other models.
