Turbo Boot Blows Off

I have a 2004 6.0 diesel, and for the 2nd time in the last 3,000 miles the driver side boot on the turbo standpipe has come off. Last time, I cleaned the connection with brake cleaner and coated it with hairspray before putting it back together.
Even though it's not that big of a deal, I'm tired of working on that piece, and was wondering if there are any aftermarket boots that do a better job of staying attached. Also, I thought of putting a couple of zip screws through it into the pipe to help it stay on. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Why not do it right and buy new ones from Riff Raff Diesel?

Another one here for the Riffraff boots. I had them on my 7.3 Excursion, my step son's 05 6.0, and I have them on order for the 2 OBS trucks I just picked up. Great quality. You won't be disappointed.

My Riffraff boots are excellent quality, way better then factory. Plus, Clay is a great guy to deal with.

You may be over boosting. Also how did you toque the clamps?
That spring clamp is a tricky thing. You think you have it and you
find out that they don't. Use a toque wrench.

My point exactly. Not trying to take a sale away from Clay by any means, but I think the problem lies somewhere.

To the OP and FWIW--these guys are correct. You won't find ANY better boots than what Riffraff offers if that's really your problem.

Thanks for the help guys, it was apart right on top, cold side. I ordered new boots from Riff Raff this morning. As well as new clamps, which I will use a torque wrench on upon installation. How much torque do those get?

You did the original by hand without a torque wrench?
Then you just found the problem. Still you need to
check boost. If it's high you can blow the boots off.

I don't have the torque right here in front of me and
won't be able to get at it till later tonight. Someone may
post it by then for you.

I've never torqued mine. I go as snug as they will go but I don't pull them tight tight. Do you even know how much boost you're getting?

I found this the other day while looking for alternator bolt torque.
I'm guessing the bottom one is the CAC boot torque specs. ?

I've got one clamp that was over-tightened and the bottom coil of the spring
is bulging out. Can't get that one to come to torque.

I had cold side blow off a few times a couple years ago. I found they actually go on a certain way. if you put them on backwards they will blow off. Correct me if I am wrong it has been a couple years but I remember on the cold side the boot has a ring that seats into another indented ring on one side. I am not 100% sure but thats how I remember it.

This is also correct, if by some how your boots are not on in the right position, or backwards for that matter, there is no way they're holding 24-26 psi without slipping. Although AM boots are nice and shiny and has the cool new effect, stock boots hold up to stock turbos perfectly when used right
