Steering box input shaft?

I was thinking about putting a Borgeson intermediate steering shaft into my 97 F250HD but my particular truck has the later style steering box (like in the 99 to 03 F250/350's). Maybe being a very late 97 truck they started using those boxes, it does look like it's the original. The guys at Borgeson don't know if I can use one of their 92 to 96 shafts as they aren't sure if the spline on the input shaft is the same as the mid 90's steering boxes. They have told me the 92 to 96 shaft is 3/4" - 36 spline, I've measured mine and I come up with 18 thou under 3/4" so it probably is 3/4" allowing for a slight loss when machining the spline but it is almost impossible to count the splines with two sections where there are none, (the master flat and the area near the clamping bolt. Does anyone know if the steering box input shaft splines are the same on the 90's box as the early 2000's box, or at least if the steering intermediate shaft coupling at the box end will fit or interchange. As I'm in Australia so I can't go down to the wreckers and just try one as Ford Australia used a locally sourced steering boxes in their Aussie assembled 90's trucks.
