...How's the father - son aspect of the build going? Hopefully you are letting your son do all the crawling underneath stuff....Ben in Austin 1950 F1
Hey Ben!
It's going well. We both enjoy it. We can see the finish line way off in the distance but no doubt we'll encounter some problems and hassles between here and there. We've both put in a lot of work so we are sharing the excitement of seeing it come together.
I'd say it's been about a 70-30 split as far as the work that has gone into it, with me having done the 70%. My son is a three-sport varsity athlete and pretty involved with some other worthwhile extracurricular things. So with that on top of school and homework and SAT prep etc. it's been a challenge for him to fit in truck work. That said, he's been pretty good about sacrificing optional social life things in favor of doing the truck. His buddies and even his (ex)girlfriend have chipped in turning wrenches.
The last few days have been very frustrating. We were supposed to have the truck back from paint last Friday. My son is off school for a few days right now and I took 10 days off work so we could hit it hard for a solid week. Well, here I am 7 days into my 10 days off and I still don't have the truck back to work on. It's been frustrating. Still, I'd rather have it done right than done on time. It's been an exercise in patience!
We've pretty much had everything forward of the bed home from paint for a few weeks, but just now getting it assembled. Here's my some turning wrenches tonight...t
