On a trip from Denver, and my fuel press. bleeds from 70# to 45# overnight. When I drive the press. gradually builds to 65-70#and holds. Would like to have it diagnosed before heading home. Any one recommend a shop in Corpus Christy/Rockport,Tx area?

If it isn't causing problems while driving, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Makes me wonder if your Fuel Pressure Regulator has something clogging it a bit or something.

As for CC, TX...I think there are a few members here that live there...if I find one, will send them an email/PM to read this thread.

hey just got the message ..hmm i wonder if its a check valve, or something of the like. Is anything leaking? .. im only recently starting to become familiar with 7.3 (running 351W right now hoping to step to the 7.3 this summer)

i know of a guy here in cc that runs a small shop i'll see if hes open tomorrow, unfortunately i don't know of any diesel specific shops or many shops for that matter (due to A: i currently run a gasser and B: i normally do all my own work and won't let a shop touch a thing cause i don't see the point.)

have classes at a&m in the morning but i'll try and get a hold of the guys info and post it along with some other peoples if i can find anything in between classes.

heres a guy for now i had him help me diagnose some stuff on my truck i had a hunch about (he didn't even charge me for it and gave me some good advice don't really know much about him but ive heard from some others that he's pretty good and won't charge you an arm and a leg....all though i don't know the extent of his knowledge on diesels, he may be worth a phone call)

however ever the catch is that they are $$$ i do not know what they charge or if they charge just to take a look but i would recommend giving them a call if you have not already taken care of the problem

What exactly do you mean bleeds from 70 to 45 overnight?

70 is technically a little high, and 45 is technically within spec, so are there any performance issues?

Have you done the in tank mods? Any chance you've got a restricted filter, either pre or post pump?

 

A couple years ago I instated a Riffraff press. regulator and in cab gage with the recommended gold spring, and it has been running and holding 65-70 #. Now in the morning the pressure reading is 45#. It starts and runs well, and within 20-30 miles the pressure builds to 65#and holds until the next morning.
No performance issues even pulling my 5th wheel.
No in tank mods.
Stock filter changed just before this trip/

 

If that's the case, I will re-iterate something I said earlier...if it's not causing problems, I wouldn't worry about it until you get home. "Don't fix what ain't broke"...especially when on the road. As Chris said, you're well within specs, so if your performance is fine, I'd leave it alone until you are back home with mechanics you trust, extra vehicles, etc.

Yeah sorry about the pm thing... my supporter membership just expired and havent reupped yet... cant delete the pm's or i'll lose some contact info, other important info brothers have sent me...

If you have not done the hutch/harpoon mods... this is the perfect indication why the procedure is so important. If you have done it... i would venture to place a bet on either prefilter getting clogged... or pump inlet screen getting clogged.

Currently on my truck...
I have a napa diesel rated plastic inline between the tank and spin on... it works well to add longevity to the spin on. Mine is pretty clogged at this point but it has lasted a full year. I drive with no problems... plenty of get up an go... unless my foot meets floor. Then my fuel pressure drops to zero. Truck still accelerates but hardly enough to get out of its own way.

Strange thing is under heavy throttle with the pressure floating between 0-5 psi im still not getting the fuel restriction smoke.

 

I'll be leaving CC in a few days and maybe come through Victoria. Maybe we can make a connection.
