You posted in the right area, maybe somebody will chime in with a reference or two. I wish you luck in finding a shop. One advantage to the 7.3's is the number of older school buses still running that motor. So you might stop by the bus barn or at a diesel shop at the local school district or stop at a diesel shop that works on medium duty delivery trucks and flat beds and ask the mechanic if he knows anybody. He might even work on pickups during his off hours! There are a lot of older bucket trucks with the 7.3 as well.
I know a Ford mechanic that moonlights on trucks for friends. He actually prefers the 7.3's after pulling cabs and working on the newer engines at the dealership all day. He says it is like a paid vacation to do something on a 7.3. Not all dealership tech's are good, but I have met some that are real sharp.

Yes got my family out of the ghetto. Non stop rain here wich is fine except for I have slide pin issues with the rust. I need the damn uppipes replaced. All my tools are in storage til I can find a garage. Scared to let someone touch my truck. I have always done the work myself. Just got nowhere to do it or tools handy
