Im trying to come up with ideas for a really good truck that I want to restore while also making it better. Im wanting to restore a 1955 F100. right now I have a 97 F350 with the 7.3 and I love it. So my question is, would it be possible to put a 7.3 in the f100? If not, what would be the biggest engine I can put in it?
Thanks!!
First of all, Welcome to the forum!
With these trucks already being nose heavy from the front axle being set back, you'll have a problem with overloading the front end right off with the weight of the Powerstroke.
There are many of these trucks out there running big block Ford and C***y engines without too much problem, but you will add another 6-7 hundred pounds with the diesel. Another problem you will run into is the trans tunnel in the cab, it was never meant for the size of trans that is behing the PSD.
If you still want to put the PSD in a 55, you might want to try swapping the 55 cab onto the 97 frame. I saw one years ago at the Supernats, it was well done and looked good.
Good luck and keep us posted with lots of pics.
Thanks! Ill look into that.
I really love the look of the 55 F100 but I want the power of somthin bigger haha
Do you know if they make after market Parts, like the Axle and all of that, for restorations.
What motor would work best for this?
Thanks!!
hell ive installed everything from a six to a 460 over them stock axels , theyll hold alot but shocks can also be substituted too and parts are available from a number of sources
