BAD MPG

Here is the run down. Its a 2000 F250 7.3 auto trans running the 80 hp tune from DP. It has a 8' Fisher plow and 1000 LBS of weaght in the bed. Im only seeing around 8 MPG. On average I see 10 - 12 MPG (which I still think is to low)

I have already checked all the boots for leaks (getting 10 PSI doing normal driving) also have replaced the EBP tube and cleaned the EBP sensor.

Im thinking about changing the EBP sensor it was badly plugged when I took it out and cleaned it.

Does this sound like a good place to start? Dont want to spend $90 if its not going to help.

Thanks

Do you have Auto Enginuity or a way of monitoring the EBPV sensor? When I cleaned my sensor it didn't correct the problem. My readings were still off. The EBPV should be within .2 psi of the MAP and Baro readings with the key on - engine off.

The readings & MPG's went back to normal after changing the sensor.

Unfortunatuly I do not have anyway of monitoring the EBPV sensor.

How many miles on the truck? Has the sensor ever been replaced?

It has 203,000 miles and I am the 2nd owner and have not replaced it. Im going to say it was never replaced. When I checked the EBP tube and sensor they both were packed full of soot. So bad I had to replace the tube and picked clean the sensor.

The sensor is really hard to clean without damaging it.... Ask me how I know.

In AE all I have for Barometric Pressure is volt, not PSI. Am I missing something?

No... it will be in the high 4's (depending on altitude). There is a chart somewhere that translates the voltage, but the test is mainly to confirm the voltage is present. BAROs rarely have any problem with accuracy, as there is nothing to contaminate them like can happen with EBP and MAP sensors.

I'm running AE version 5.3 (2007). Under the "live data meter" tab in the pull down menu I see "Barometric Pressure" right above "Barometric Pressure - Volts.

Well I bite the bullet and bought a EBP sensor from riffraff. I hope it helps improve MPG.

Check out this thread - Rich has some great info on using/learning AE.

If this doesn't help you I found my original disk - Not sure if it will work for your OBDII connector you could give it a try.

Thanks, Rich helped me determine my version wasn't working correctly. I no longer have to enter a registeration code, it's all wired in to my OBD conector.

I need to find others who are having issues so I can get them to listen to me.

Example: I don't register/record MPH and my Fuel pulse Bandwidth is off a decimal.

I'm sure there are other weird differences. It does it's job... Just not 100%
