I'm picking one up for my new project next week. I haven't seen much about them on here.
It's complete except for the motor. Some rust repair, of coarse. Looks like you guys are big on cutting down the beds on these things.
So, you guys think under a grand is an OK deal for this? I've already got a motor (351M) I think that's what it came with, I'll have to research some more after I get it home.
Anyways, I usually hang out in the 73-79 and the 6.7 diesel area's but you will be seeing me a lot in here.
The M was first used in 77 and never scored high marks for anything other than a gas hog. The 70 would have come I6, 302, or 360. You might check the tranny bell bolt hole spread also. The I6 & 302 have a flat top and 5 1/2" bolt hole spread, the FE has a round top, the M has a flat 7 1/2" spread. You will have to match up to install.

That's good to know. Shows what I don't know about this era of trucks.
Looking forward to seeing some pics. The short bed 4x4's are not as common to see as the long beds. What kind of shape is it in and what are your plans for it?
