Dump bed alterations

I have an 8' flareside from a 66 F-250 that I am shortening 11", I think I am going to use an electric hydraulic dump, and was considering raising the floor of the bed to accomidate the hoist frame so I do not have to jack the body.

Only minor issue is that after raising the bed, the tailgate will not line up with the floor when it is opened.

with the short bed it's nice to have the extra support of the tailgate when picking up materials.

I have thought that I may put 2 hooks on each chain so I can hook it with the top of the tailgate level with the bed when hauling, and full length when using it as a work bench,

Anyone have a different idea?

That would work as long as you are not putting too much weight on the top edge. Maybe add a tailgate protector thingy to the top?
