I have a 2000 f150 4x2 5.4 168k
Check engine came on,started shaking, weather was really cold.
RPM would be a little high then low then back up. Especially when I turned on heater. Felt like truck would die but never does nor does it have issue starting.
So far, I have replaced two oxygen sensors inside engine, all coils, spark plugs, fuel filter, had injectors cleaned, intake cleaned.
Truck runs better but, light came on a day later again.
I can feel the tiniest of shaking going on and, cold mornings still make RPMS a little unstable.
I was driving truck on highway at about 60 mph when a slight tug was felt and
Truck check engine came on. I feel truck heavy, once it warms up completely, a little lighter.
Codes came up at auto zone as P1151
But I'm running out of options and frankly, money to fix this truck.
Checked the MAF and looked okay.
That's usually either a vacuum leak or a gummed up IAC valve.
I have replaced two oxygen sensors
Which two? There are four on your system.
P1151
That could be a faulty sensor (upstream, driver's side) or it could be the result of a misfire, vacuum or exhaust manifold leak, or a few other things.
Vacuum leaks on the PCV hose elbows are one of the more common problems with your engine Check that first. Passenger side valve cover, then around to the back of the throttle body (left-handed check, very long reach, cool engine). The elbows get soft and can either tear, get pinholes, or can collapse.
Hello, The code description tells that an air leak into the intake tract is causing the engine to run lean.
This is causing the erratic idle issue the intake air controller does not have enough range to handle..
Check closely all the rubber fittings and connection around the take manifold and one on the rear that is out of sight.
The reason this caused a code is the OX sensor detected the excess air.
When this happens the computer tries to increase fuel to make up for the excess air in an attempt to bring the ratio back into balance.
When the fuel table is shifted too far out of it's limits it causes the code to set indicating the problem.
After this is solved there could be other issues you can't see under this problem, but hope not.
Good luck.
Okay, thank you all for the suggestions.
Will be checking on the PCV and will be cleaning the IAC again.
Could it be a plenum issue?
Local shop charging $55 just to run diagnostic on truck and see what happens.
Someone suggested replacing fuel pump, after I felt the truck jump
A little while driving on highway.
I let go of accelerator, jumped a little, then accelerated again, jumped again.
Did it once more then felt fine after that.
That's one. What was the other? For what reason were they replaced?
which hose am I supposed to check,

I searched and finally had to buy the whole hose and attached PCV valve.
Installed it, ran great. Took truck up to around 60 mph no more jump.
Was driving truck got to about 1/4 tank of fuel, check engine light came on again.
No real noticeable shaking, no real issue with rpm anymore.
NEW CODE.COMING UP
as EGR VALVE P1406
No real issues driving.
I did notice a dripping of "water" looking fluid
Right at the bend, of an almost S shaped
Tube near the cat.
Dripped a few times right when i started engine.
Truck had not moved since Monday.
Update: truck passed emission/safety test just yesterday.
Weather was in the 50's no issues!
Today, get up to drive my son to school, temps are in the low 30's and shaking occurs along with RPM dipping. No stall, no problem starting.
Anybody have an idea? Manifold?
Thank you everyone for the help, saved me much needed time and money.
I'm just sick of splitting my head on what is wrong with truck.
