Question Tow Hooks

Just a question and hopefully some information. Has anybody seen replacement chrome tow hooks for the PSD's? I have been looking around and haven't found anything except the little covers that attach over the existing hooks. I would like to replace the existing hooks with either chrome or stainless. Help me out guys.

Jim I haven't seen any aftermarket ones for sale but I saw a guy on another forum that sent his stock hooks away and had them chromed. They looked good. I'll see if I can find the link to the right forum and post it here if I can.

Chroming can affect the hardness/strength/safety of any steel component, so I'd avoid it on something as significant as your tow hooks. Powdercoating is safe, durable, and cheap. There's an industrial powedercoater here that does small jobs like that cheap - e-mail me.

Thanks for the response. I usually don't use my hooks for anything, in fact I was considering taking them off but I do like the looks of them. Well I did use them one time and I will probably use them again. You might have a point about the hardening thing. I have heard about he powder coating. Might be somthing to consider. Maybe I can do both. If you know of a site where I can get the chrome hooks and keep my regular hooks for the futher..Always somthing to think about.

always wondered why no tow hooks on the rear. seems as though if someone needed to pull something out that pulling from the rear would be much safer on the transmission

You can get a hood to go into the reciever hitch if your wanting to pull from the rear of your truck. At least that is what most people do that I have seen...

"...hooK..."? Actually, a shackle (D-ring) is much safer and stronger.
