What year?

I thought the engines changed to powerstroke in 1994.5?

I was looking at a truck with a "Turbo Diesel " and it is a 1995?

So what year was the change to Powerstroke?

Yes, it was in 1994.5. But, maybe up north the rules weren't the same and Ford made some IDI's in 95.

The early PSD's still said Turbo Diesel on the fender like the IDI trucks, they also had the same radiators as the IDI motors with no degass bottle. Guessing they were just using up old parts.

Did you actually see the engine or was 'Turbo Diesel' just what the add said? It's possible the seller doesn't know the difference between a PSD and a turbo IDI. A PSD is a 'Turbo Diesel'. The other option is that someone swapped in a turbo IDI after the original PSD died.

... or the seller is guessing (or bull####ing) on the year, or any number of possibilities. That's why knowing the MODEL year (10th digit) and engine code (8th digit) based on the VIN is important; you'd want to vet the VIN before moving forward anyway.

I looked at door tag it 02/07/95.
I also saw the engine ,it has a plastic cover over the fuel filter with a door that opens up on top of the filter.
On the cover it says Turbo Diesel.
Think its a powerstroke with a turbo diesel cover?

Door tag does NOT indicate model year. ONLY the VIN does. Feb 1995 _should_ mean it's a '95 model, but the door is still the wrong place to determine the model year, of any vehicle.

The flip-up cover on the PowerStroke engine says "Turbo Diesel". It doesn't say "PowerStroke".

If you are looking at buying it and If its a good deal then don't say anything about a powerstroke. Let the "Turbo Diesel" play in you favor

It never did. Door jamb tag indicates when the vehicle was BUILT. That's NOT the same as MODEL year; model year changeovers almost always happen before the calendar year, usu. between July and September. Sometimes LONG before. For example, they were building 2001 MODEL year Saturn coupes as early as March 2000, but they didn't change the sedans to the 2001 model year 'til about August 2000. Model year changeover can even vary by assembly plant, so a vehicle built in, say, Sept 1995, might be a 1995 model in one plant, but a 1996 in another.

F-250 (HD/SD) / F-350 is another great example. Through most of the OBS generation, the model year changeover was the usual August/September. But the '97 MODEL was built right up through mid-December 1997. There are even some claims of '97 models, OBS, built in Jan and Feb of 1998. They started building early '99 SuperDuty trucks very early in '98, but they all carried the '99 model year code in the VIN.
