I will find the parts list for mine. I was around 70 for parts for my setup.

Personally I have the Sinister setup, which I like and it seems to do the job. However there are many different setups and if you look hard enough on this site you can most likely find a list of individual parts that you can purchase and make your own. The advantage I see here is two fold, It appears cheaper AND if you set it up right it will filter ALL of the coolant all of the time (if I understand it correctly) whereas the sinister only filters a percentage of the flow at any given time. If you have a reasonably clean system that is probably enough, if you need to do a more intense cleaning it may be worth the extra time to install the pieced together system......jmho. Also
One of the more important things to remember is no matter what route you go use a filter that does NOT have any treatment additives built into it there are many different options for either so buyer beware when purchesing.

You want to set it up as a bypass system so that if it starts to get restricted, plugged filter, you don't restrict your cooling water.

Tats cool. I have the performance machine manufacturing egr delete kit. If installed right, it will work right. So far so good.

Sorry to change the topic.

I haven't seen a full flow system yet. Aftermarket or homemade they've all been bypass set ups.

That could very well be right, I am referring to the one that they pipe into one of the bigger lines under the degas bottle, as opposed to the heater line. I must have misunderstood what they said I agree with the poster that said it was a bad thing to do to filter ALL of the water at once anyway and It would take a very large volume filter to handle that much at once anyway. As my Grandchildren would say....My bad.

No problem, I think you'll like it. I still have a few pics of my install here: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Rusty Axlerod's Album: coolant filter
The instructions that came with it weren't so great. If you have the vacume actuated heater control valve be sure to put the T fitting in front of it.(one of the pics are labeled).I didn't the first time and had to change it.

There was a lot of casting sand left in the navistar blocks which will dislodge and plug the oil cooler.

The oil cooler has the smallest passages of the cooling system. Right now your oil cooler is acting as your coolant filter.

Couple thoughts on this. If you enjoy little projects and can source the parts locally, a setup can be put together for cheaper than buying a kit. Just be prepared to spend a little time getting everything set up just right.

I thought it would be cool to do a setup where the drain plugs in the block were routed to a filter. I don't know how much it would interfere with normal coolant flow but it seems like the bottom of the block would be the best outlet to get all that crap out more quickly.

This is interesting. Take it out from the drain plug and reintroduce it below the Degas bottle. Very little piping involved. Good idea!!!
