New Project

I am new to this forum but not forums in general. I just purchased my truck last week. It's a 1978 Ford F150 Super Cab LWB 4X4. It has a 351M with a C6 trans. It needs a little TLC, but it runs good and the inside is 90% complete. Just a few odds and ends to finish. I am sure I will have plenty of questions along the way. Any help would be great!

Congratulation on the new purchase. There is an unbelievable amount of information on this site and a lot of people willing to help. I'm a newbie to these trucks and I am still looking for my first truck, but I am learning!

Just so you know, I was looking at this truck and you beat me to the punch by about 15 minutes. I called the seller, got no answer and then a few minutes later got a text saying it sold. Guess he didn't answer because he was in the middle of the sale! Based on what I saw it was a good deal.

Needless to say, I like the truck! Good luck with it.

There 18's for now. I ordered rims and tires and went to a 17 because the rim I wanted wasn't offered in an 18 with the correct offset.

Plans, we'll first get the interior buttoned up. Needs new ***** and headliner. Replace the dash lights. A few are burned out. Other than that just slowly work on it. Replace lenses, small things like that. Then I'll work on bigger things. But the truck does drive really good. And it's huge in person.

Welcome. There's is also a supercab thread on this forum you should post to if you haven't already.

I looked a long time to find a solid 4x4 supercab. They're just great looking trucks and the extra room in the cab is awesome to have.

I suggest you get a small notebook and keep a log of what you do to the truck. Like you, I'm just working on things as I go along. I've only had mine for about a year and it's amazing to look through everything I've already done.

I'm also interested in what the 17's will look like. What size tire are you going to run?

I will be running a 315 65 17. It has 325 60 18 on it now. I am curious to see how it's going to look also. I have already started a folder. I do that with all my vehicles.

I may be wrong here but the grill looks like it is a 77 instead of a 78. Either way it is an awesome looking truck and I'm excited to see where you go with it. Good luck and keep us posted!

Only thing that bothers me is the mirrors, other than that it's nice.

Yeah, def not a 78 grill, but easily swapped.

Wish I could drive mine, 2 years later and it's still a project. This summer though, hell or high water I will drive her....

Nice looking Supercab, but then, I'm partial to red.

Where abouts in Texas are you?

Looks nice! Thanks for the picture. I'm currently running 35/12.5/16.5. When those are done, I'm going to need to do something else since 16.5 is no longer supported well. I think I like the look of the 17's more the 16's. Any reason why you went to the 315's instead of staying with 325?

Would you be willing to share how much those set you back?

Just it was the tire that fits on that rim for that truck.
