Little Rant...

Ok so idk how many of you are members on other forums but im trying to figure out why some guys are just a** holes on other forums....... Like I posted a thread about something I couldn't find the answer to after a few hours of searching and the first comment is "dude your a moron".... that's all their was. Still no answer to the question... Second comment, "the model # is right there! look up the f****** manual or something".... Well seeing it was a old product I couldn't find anything that helped anywhere.

On FTE everyone seems like a nice person and is willing to help 99% of the time. But this last post of mine on this other place wasn't the first time it happened. The moderators have deleted a few of my threads because some of these older guys think they own the forum or something and arnt nice to the new guys. So thank you FTE for being at least one place a guy of any age or skill level can ask a question without having d**k head put his two cents in all the time..... IDk why its irritating me so much but nothing annoyes me more then when people feel the need to comment just to put someone down or PO someone...

Ok rant over.... Thanks again FTE

There cannot possibly be a better Ford Truck forum anywhere. I have asked dumb questions here and I've always been treated respectfully.

I am a member of other "hobby" forums and the usual range of people are there, some are just looking to be rude to people. I've not seen that here.

You can get the same reaction here, if you ask the wrong questions. Certain "hot button" questions can really get people irritated.

Yeah, I can see that, but to avoid that, read alot, and use the search function on here and google before you ask a question. Like one I see alot is "how do i tell if i have a High boy? That has been discussed tons, do I mind? No, do some others? yes. And I am sure everyone will ask that type of question at some point. I know I have at some point or another on one site or another.....

I have been on some sights that dont like working on your own car...they think that only the certified mechanic from said make/model's dealership can work on them......WHAT? lol take the good with the bad. Read alot....I read a ton more than I ever post on these forums, because Im sure someone has done something I plan to do before me at some point....lol

I think most of the guys here understand that we all love the same thing.
How can you be a dick to someone that has that same interests as you.
Sometimes I get a bit weary of the "why doesn't my truck work" threads but I just choose not to participate in that thread. Seems pretty easy to me, I'll leave it to someone with a better attitude that day.
It seems to me that it's easy to be a dick these days because you can hide on the net. In the old days if you were a dick you had to be that way to someone's face, and that someone might kick your *** so you were more respectful.
I'll just say this. Every guy/girl in this forum is my friend because I'd like to hang with every one of you and spill a few beers bench racing about trucks.
So if you get some grief about asking a question,,,,,,,,,screw 'em, they're not worth your time.

Well, I was going to say that I agree with everything I copied from you that I put in Red, but almost all was in red, so there you go...lol

I dont mind the my truck wont work threads etc, I see them more on some of the other forums on the newer cars/trucks, and sometimes they are what I need and it gets brought up again....but like you said, I dont participate in them.

Yea it bothers me when a google search or a search here will result in 10 posts on the same subject already. I take the effort to look **** up so I don't look anymore stupid than I am.
I kind of expect others to do the same before posting and expecting an answer.
But I am an a**hole so there ya go.
Some people don't even try, they just post without even bothering to do research.
I'm guilty of it at times as well because I see all the other lazy ***** doing it and I'm like screw it.
A great example is the almost weekly 2x4 to 4x4 conversion threads.
Or can I put this engine in and what do I need? or will this tranny work?
All these questions for example have been covered here multiple times since I've joined just last summer.

Or the Offroad & 4x4 forum right here....well sometimes...well most of the time. lol

I make the mistake ever so often and stop by there for some help and most of the time get irritated shortly there after by some of the "know it all's/done it all attitude".

Then there is the endless, newb bashing, flame you for asking a simple question, this is the only way to weld, this is the only way to fix your truck.....but there are a few with great advice and leave the attitude over at pirate.

As far as others forums....just come here always and make life easier for yourself.

BTW for the record, I have done it all, have owned them all, know how to weld inverted & underwater (in the dark, for fun) and have all the T shirts to prove it....ROTFLMAO, with a barley pop in my free hand.

And I try to bring a little humor here, every so often.

What forum??? I'm on quite a few of these forums and hang out in the 73-79 sections primarily and don't recall seeing any "you're a moron" posts...shoot a lot of guys in this section that are 'helpful 99% of the time" are on those other forums too.

I've noticed the same thing. There are a few "old grouches" on FTE but it can be really bad on other forums.
Personally I hang out here 99% of the time because this is what I'm interested in.
I also try to be helpful to other members regardless of the question, or how much of a "noobie" the poster is.
We all have to realize that none of this is intuitive, none of us were born with an intimate knowledge of the dentsides. All of us have had to go through a learning curve when it comes to working on our trucks. If you are honest with yourself, you've had "dumb" questions to ask someone with more knowledge and experience than you, I know I have.
There are questions here I see all the time that are repeats of the same question that's been asked over and over (my fuel gauge doesn't work, what's wrong with it?). I get kinda tired of answering them, so, like Marc I don't chime in, I go on to other threads.
My advice is, be helpful, be courteous and be willing to pass on your knowledge to a younger generation. For a lot of members this is the first carbureted vehicle they've ever owned. Carburetors, points and condensers are a mystery to them. I remember how it was for me when fuel injection first started to appear on cars.
