I have a 85 t-bird 5.0 Eng that I'm putting in a 61 Econoline pu.
my question is that I want to put just a Alt on the eng.
So I need to know what year and model do i get the alt bracket from.
thanks for any help
You're going to need to rewire the Econoline as well, as it came with a generator, not an alternator. as for the bracket, that depends on what other accessories (P/S and A/C) you're going to run. Probly best to run 1 wire alternator
I'm only going to run just an alt. no P.S no A/C.
I have done a Gen to Alt conversion befor
Just need to know what year of a Alt braket that I need.. thanks
Any 289/302 bracket should bolt to the 5.0 block. The alternator/regulator wiring is about the same from the late 60's to the mid 80's. One difference through the years is the size of the alternator, so if you're going through the junk yard just grab the alternator & brackets as a set.
You can also find some March style alternator bracket kits on ebay for $50. They are polished with a turnbuckle style adjustment. This is what I'm using on my 5.0 in my 66 Mustang.
