Darkside 1 wire alternator question
Hey there,
K so I'm going for it, I have a 239Y-block. Going to change out the generator, for the GM 1 wire alternator. I have and article for the change out but needing some advice on brackets and aternator placement. Do I fab new brackets and place the Alternator where the generator was? Or do i place the alternator above the Intake manifold?

Hi Mr. Low!
There is a bracket that you can buy that is very available and it mounts the alternator in the position the generator used to occupy.
Here is one I found on e-bay:
eBay Motors: Ford Flathead 1949-53 Alternator Conversion (item 310091994328 end time Oct-21-08 05:00:41 PDT)

239 Y-Block! I wish you guys would start calling that the 239OHV, so as not to confuse with the L-head. (flathead) When I see Y-block I keep slipping into the 56's 272.
It looks like they had one for you then - good. If not, here is a link for one that fits, but is for show - nice, but pricey.
