According to this link 6016lb although that seems a little light IMO, also they don't list the engine so i am guessing that this is the 5.4. In general though I have heard the payload for 99-04 F-250 with a gas engine is about 2700. So with a GVWR of 8800, it would make sense that they weight in at a little over 6000. also i am talking about 99-04 idk now much the modern super duties weight. I have heard that they can come close to 8000 but someone else would have to chime in on that i am really not sure.
I'll chime in with my 2006 CCSB 5.4. This info comes from the scale at my local scrap yard, although I have a full toolbox, a back rack, and at the time two adults. I weighed in close to 8,300K lbs and then weigh out was about 7,600 lbs. Subtracting the rack/box/people, that puts my truck around 7,000 lbs. Truly not sure how accurate that scale is, especially considering 96Mark8's response, however perhaps the weights increased in the second generation.
I to was at a junk yard a while back and if i remember correctly my 2001 V10 4x4 short bed weighted in at 7300. That was with 3 adults in the car and a few other things in the bed. But i was still surprised that we added up to 1300lb of payload. I too am a little skeptical of the truck only weighing 6000 but if you scroll to page 10 of this second link I found it clearly lists the a 2001 5.4, 4x4 short bed F250 with a payload of 2780. And it lists the GVWR as 8800 so the truck would have to weigh 6020lb empty. And this looks like a very legitimate source IMO. I have always been under the impression that these weight numbers take into account the spare tire and all fluids needed to run the truck (including a full tank of gas) but I am starting to wonder if i am wrong about that now..
oh - and on edit - I did go increase my 'registered' weight @ the dmv to 12,500... they had mine @ 7500 lbs base !!! which is ludicrous !!!
so don't trust your 'dmv' weights --- and most 'in and out weights' at dumps, etc.. are only good for differences - doesn't really need to be accurate for their purposes...
Mine (see sig) weighs around 7300 lbs almost every time I weigh out of the dump. That is empty, except for me, fuel, and whatever gear is in the cab with me. I also have rails for a 5th wheel hitch.
Yea i feel the the numbers are just all over the place. My guess it that these scales at the junkyards are a little off. Like jdadamsjr said the only real way to find out is to go to a CAT scale.
My 01 F350/CC/LB/V10/4x4...empty without tailgate weighed 6800 to register it. With 2 adults and 2 labs with toolbox and 5th wheel hitch came in @ 7600. GVW is 9900#.
