VB or Full Rebuild

I'm wanting opinions on whether to spend $5500 for a whole job at Woods or less for a valve body job on my '02 4R100 with barely 100k on it. It's fine now but I'd like to avoid a breakdown in the middle of nowhere, where we always seem to be. Just what is the VB job and if Brian does it, what should I expect to pay? Travel isn't a problem either way because we're retired and always looking for an excuse to go somewhere.

a built trans is way better than just a VB. the VB will make it shift smother but the trans will last a long time.
if i had the $ i would get a BTS trans.
