I have a 99 XLT with the paddle manual mirrors on it. I don't really like the way those look, and I found some mirrors that look just like the power ones, but are manuals. I figured I might as well get power mirrors, if I could wire it. Does anybody know if there is a way to add power mirrors to a truck that doesn't have them? Are the wires already in the door, or do you have to find wiring harnesses or a kit to do it?? I can find the mirrors and the switch, but I dont know about the wiring.
Interesting project. I guess the first thing you would need to check would be to see if you already have the harness connectors for the power mirrors in your door. To do this, you will need to remove the driver's side inside door panel. Then remove the speaker so that you can look inside the door for the harness connector(s).
If the connectors are there then I assume it would be a matter of installing the new mirrors using the existing wires and plugs.
You are also going to need a new interior door handle that has the power mirror switch in it. Try a junkyard for that.
Good luck, hope this helps.
