n I've got a 88 f150 long bed 302 5.0 I just bought it I driver her home but she drove like crap so before I got home I stopped and put 10$ in it and put some fuel injector cleaner in it well it ran a little better got home started running bad agin it had bad gas it it it set for four years so I drained the rear tank and put sea foam in it and it want even start now it sounded like it was getting fire so check both the fuel pumps both working but there is a dual resivoire thing with a filter in it changed it out still wouldn't crank but I think it might be bad as well just wondering if anybody can give me some advice?
My 88 sat that long as well. Remember this year had 3 pumps. low pressure in tank and high pressure on the frame. I eventually turned mine in to a one tank truck. I got a resivoire off a bronco. I use it with out a filter. That old gas can gum up fuel pumps. I replaced both of mine. best thing to do is check the fuel pressure with a gauge. change the main filter. When you had the tank out did you change the filter on the pump? My resivoire was gummed up to. It has valves in it that can stick. Fuel pressure gauge will be your best friend. Also check fuel pressure regulator. Any thing deals to fuel does not react well to old stale gas
Add some fresh gas to the tank. The Seafoam may have caused some gum to move into the line. Check that your injectors are spraying and what the spray pattern looks like.
The problem with injector/carb cleaners added to the tank, is that it also acts like a tank cleaner and will loosen all that stuff at one time, rather than over several months of tank fills. And i locked up two engines with Seafoam...
