302 fuel pump?
It was tuned a week prior to any problems. plugs, cap, rotor, air filter,timing..I double checked the timing and it's still right on.
I was wondering how much pressure the low pressure fuel pump should have. I disconnected the line going into the high pressure fuel pump and ran a auxillary tank to it. When it was running I had the line from the fuel tank routed to a catch pan. It was pissing out a weak stream then it would surge now and then.
Should it have a steady stream or is this normal? Is there a good way to check the fuel pump without a pressure gauge?
It ran alot better after replacing the fuel filter( for a little while) and had good power up to 45 mph then it would fall on it's face. I turned around and went home. by the time I got back it would barely move.
in my opinion: I was thinking that enough fuel was getting to the high pressure fuel pump to run the motor. I'm thinking I might have some bad gas. I just syphoned 6 gallons of gas left over from last summer. The gas that came out of the old filter had a little rust color but clean gas came out of the 'out' side of the filter.
Any help or opinions would be greatty appreciated.. I'm out draining the tank now and will post when I'm done...Thanks
