How to replace rag joint/steering coupling on 93 E150?
Does anyone have instructions for replacing the rag joint/steering coupling on a '93 E150? The Haynes manual describes pulling the steering column and separately the steering box. Nothing about just the joint/coupling.
I'm thinking if its the rubber biscuit type it might not be necessary to drop the column or steering box. As I remember years and years ago replacing one of those on something else I owned they should somewhat slip in to gap between the column and box.
I might be way off on the later Fords though. If so its not a huge issue to drop the column, leave it mostly in place laying on the seat and changing the joint.
Most likely it'll be rusted in place so liberal amounts of PB Blaster, a heat gun or MAPP gas torch AND fire extinguishing device (just in case) might do the trick.
