Two weeks ago I was driving home from work and my heat stopped working. I pulled over and saw coolant dripping badly out of the bottom of my truck. I popped the hood and sure enough, coolant was bubbling out of the front passenger side of the intake. I took it to a shop to do the work (quoted at 500-550 out the door with a dorman intake). A week goes by and I get a call from the shop, "After two Dorman Intakes, the truck is not running right" they have no idea what it could be. The truck has 367k on it (not sure if original motor). Yesterday I get a call from the owner, " we put the original intake back on and fixed the leak with jb weld. The truck still runs like ***** and I dont know what to tell you. Im going to need $780 for my time." They claim they didnt do anything wrong and will not take any blame for ruining my engine. (Keep in mind the truck ran PERFECT when I took it in there). The truck doesnt throw any codes and they are at a loss of what could have happened. They put in 8 new plugs and 2 coils that they broke while in the process of removing the intake. Any help would be great.
I would think if it runs that bad, there would be some code thrown. It could be loose or broken vacuum hose, or an electrical plug not installed or a sensor that got broke (MAP, timing CAM sensor, etc>)
I had the same issue with mine. My front intake was leaking. Pulled it apart and the water crossover tube was leaking at the manifold where the gasket seats. It broke off. I researched it and repaired it with epoxy. I have 40k miles on repair. When I put mine back together one of the injectors got a chunk of oil on it. I though I cleaned it well enough. Fired the truck and it had a miss. Turned out to be that injector. Just put an aftermarket inj on and have 40k plus since the repair.
I thought I'd for sure have to replace the intake. But I'm only in it expose and gaskets plus one inj.
