Anyone know much about printers?
I'm confused about the specs. I'm looking at the Epson xp-310 and it is advertised as being a wi-fi capable printer, does not include a USB cable, yet reviews say that it does not do wi-fi. What I'd like to do is connect a CAT5 cable to it out of my router and send to it via my laptop over wi-fi, or set it up as a wireless device (no CAT5 to router, in another location). Can I do either of those set ups or not?
Epson Expression Home XP-310 Small-in-One All-in-One Printer - Specifications - Epson America, Inc.
When looking at printers the important thing is print speed and connection options..
The Epson print speed is 8.7 pages per minute in black and 4.5 pages in color
Connections are either USB or WIFI
It also supports print from iPads or mobile phone
If you want a printer that is Ethernet capable and faster print speed I would go with the hp office jet 8600 printer..

It prints 18 pages per minute black and 13 pages per minute color
Also has both WIFI and Ethernet
Brother Wireless Color Laser MFC-9130CW All-In-One
My kids are homeschooled, so a laser printer is a must. Inkjet cartridges just cost too much per page, and don't last long enough. The current laser printer we have was a freeby, and came with only 2500 pages printed on an extended capacity toner. I may have to replace it in 10,000 pages or so.
The reviews on the Brother were odd, it actually does print both sides, it's just not automatic. The test page I did on one was very clear and nearly photo quality.
