So this is what I got with it when I just picked up this warn 6500lb winch. No idea why its like this but the only thing I know for a fact goes where is the controller. Any help would be appreciated.
Copy and paste: For testing purposes. Positive goes from battery (+) to the top left solenoid lug. Negative goes from battery (-) to the negative lug I welded on (motor case)
Then take a small jumper from the 12v+ to the S terminal of the lower left solenoid (green wire) and the winch should power in.
Then take a small jumper from the 12v+ to the S terminal of the lower right solenoid (brown wire) and the winch should power out.
Scroll way to the bottom, see WINCH WIRING and TESTING
That red connector in your hand looks like a quick connect/disconnect power source. Since the winch is mounted on a 2" receiver mount I would say it was wired for QD. And it looks like an older style QD power connector. Pic is new style QD's.
So you bought it WITHOUT testing it out...? Hope the motor or solenoids are not burned out. That is a common problem (solenoids). And its a older, but good reputation high elec draw winch.
He isn't sure what the red thing with the wire is for :P he said call in a hour and he will tell me how he wired it when I was there though. I know the box where the switch plugs in needs to be grounded as well
