Starter/ flywheel
Hello all here's my problem. I gotta 1999 F-250 superduty 6.8l and
Today out of nowhere I go to start truck and starter kicks but doesn't turn engine over!!!! So I try tappin starter and hittin the key and nothing changes.
The garage is full so I gotta do this one in the drive way after 20-30 min I had starter out and took it to autozone to have it checked of course it passes so I get a new one anyway and notice the old one is missing the gear it just has the splined shaft so I get new one and keep old one. I get back to the truck stick my stand in the starter hole and find the gear but no snap ring so I decode to install the new starter 20min later I go to start the truck and it sounds like the gears are clashing I shut off try again even worse. I decide to at least drive it home before it fails again I get home shut truck off hit the key and the gears clash but now won't start the gears are not meshing again I did not tear apart agin but I do not know what the problem is but what would make the gear come off the first one? And it seems like it just happened to new one??? Any help please!!!
