hmmm, good luck

I'm in the middle of building an 84 stepside. You're going to have to be very luck to find anyone willing to part with those pieces off of a good bed. Most of the ones I have seen are so rotten you don't want to mess with them, if you could even get them off intact.

I have gone to several difference places to find my replacements. Ebay is good for the metal parts. bed strips etc. Everyone will tell you lmc, but you might want to try Mar-k, Horkey's wood and parts. or bedwood and parts. Horkey's seem to have a huge variety of parts and accessories and prices are better than lmc. My bed walls and tailgate were in good shape to start with but I have had to completely rebuild everything else. (so glad I found a good metal fab place) front and rear sills, the cross bars that support the wood, etc.

I haven't order any wood yet because I haven't decided what I want yet. I have a few friends with cabinet shops, it might be worth asking around to see if you can have someone local mill the wood for you. Saves you from having to pay for shipping on a 150 lbs of wood, and you can pick what you want. Take Some pics, i'm always up for seeing a well finished stepside.

ive been on the fence about fixing the stepside or getting a fleetside to replace it.
I would like to have the fleetside on the truck while I upfix the stepside.
I have all kinds of ideas about this truck ,but as with such things money is the issue.

Marine plywood was used from the factory. Gonna be a lot cheaper than any bed-kit with hard wood. IF you can cut wood and looking for a factory look, go that route.

I totally agree in the money thing. It has added up trying to piece this thing back together. I've been slowly gathering parts and been waiting till work slows down to really dig into it. Thats why I've spent some time shopping around and looking for deals. Don't want junk but I want some $ left over for the interior upgrades I have in mind. My truck had the original plywood in it. Yes, functional, but butt ugly, not to mention rotten beyond belief from the p.o leaving his garden waste in it to rot all winter long.
You can get white oak boards already cut and rabbeted on ebay for less than $300. Bedwood will sell you the same thing in exotic teak for close to $3000. My wife would make sure I was never seen again if I did that.

I bought my bed kit with the oak boards already cut and unfinished from ebay along with the stainless strips and bolt kit and they look and fit perfect. Here is the seller: bigbucks201

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oak-Bed-Wood-Ford-F-100-Truck-Pickup-Floor-Parts-69-70-71-72-1969-1970-1971-1972-/360801712505?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5401753979&vxp=mtr
I put 10 coats of Marine Clear on each side (over about a two week period) of each board using EPIFANES Clear High-Gloss Varnish that I purchased from Amazon.com and it all came out great.

Mine will be the "original" marine plywood, Finished 1 side and painted, like the original, the blue metallic.
Bed kit wood, $300+
Marine plywood $65.

That sounds sweet but I was going for a high end natural look and I don't mind paying a little extra to get a little extra. Guess it's all what you want to do with your truck. Mine is a restored beauty queen that lives in the garage and only comes out on sunny days.

Mar-K (mar-k.com) located in OKC has the wood, strips, cross members, the whole enchilada.

The wood and strips were painted body color originally.

A stepside is a Chevrolet.
