I have a 1979 f-150 custom with an 8ft. bed that is rusted out. I was thinking aout getting a new bed for it but I can oly find patch pannels. Does anyone know where i can find the whole inner bed part?
LMC has entire bed sides and the entire bed floor, but they aren't overly cheap. I would bet that the few other companies that specialize in 73-79 would have them too, but I know about LMC.
Blue Oval Truck Parts has a complete bed floor assembly as well as complete bedsides and inner bed panels. They have great prices too. I'm currently pricing out buying repair panels through them vs. buying a parts truck with a good bed. Good luck.
www.usbodysource.com They have fiberglass bed parts. Maybe a lil more expensive but they will never go bad again. I dont know where youre located but they had an entire bed already together for $1000 cash and carry
US body is in Florida - NPD and Dennis Carpenters also both offer replacement bedsides. To keep from rusting, weld the top edge, down the front and rear, But use some of the new panel bonding adhesives to attach the wheel arch - It'll never rust again. The rust is caused by not being able to seal where they welded the two peices there, water and dirt build up, rust forms and over the years finally eats thru the panel.. If you glue it, there is no possible way for the water to get in behind it and cause rust. Plus the glued area is stronger than welding. Just some food for thought!
