94/f-250 4X4,this is not my truck(Thank god). The speedo is pegged on 90 mph,the #8 fuse rely in the cab is warm and clicking and at the same time the odometer is turning/blinking on then stays off,no blinking od light, the trans is shifting thru the gears. This is a plow truck and was plowing and there is snow and ice hanging underneath,is there any chance this snow covered truck has a wet short/grounding problem.I didn't have my scanner so I didn't pull any codes, maybe tommorow.I climbed under the truck and didn't see anything disconnected or out of place. The owner said it seemed fine plowing, but this morning it didn't start and there was a battery cable loose and the battery light was on,we pulled it into the shop and that's when I noticed the problems with the #8 relay clicking.I switched the 2 same sized relays and the same clicking on #8.Do you think it has to do with the wet/snowy undercarriage,or something with the PSOM.Thanks in advance
#8 relay???
Could be something with the PSOM as if the wires from the rear end were open or shorted then the speedometer pointer would point to zero.
Is this relay for the plow?
I'm thinking a slightly buckled frame pinched a wire in the VSS circuit. But that is a long shot. Couldn't be that lucky. If it's still shifting OK, get a cheap GPS and stick it over the speedometer and go with it!
