fuses

Hi All,
Got a little problem with my parking light fuse.
1993 F250 351 auto trans plow rv breaking system black [lol]
I have gone through the electrical system as far as I can and can't find anything wrong. Still, as soon as I put a new 15 amp fuse in #4 it pops.
Is there a relay or somrthing I'm missing?
Thanks
Bob

You've got a dead short in your circuit.
A trick I used to use when repairing stereos is this:
Attach a light in where the fuse is supposed to go. What this does is 1. it limits the current and 2. it will help you track down the short. With the light in place (and it will probably be glowing brightly), start removing things from that circuit. When the light goes out, you have found what is causing the short.

Bob, It could be anything but I would check the "added features" that you have on your truck. I have found that plow rigs are notorious for problems like yours. I have three rigs of my own that have been transferred from older trucks to newer ones. All the vibrations and hammering that they go through can take it's toll on the plow wiring harness as well as the added light fixtures.
Next, check out the RV connections. I am assumming that you are refering to a trailer type setup. It is possible that the pigtail for the running lights and signals may have a short or possibly been pinched in one way or another. Just a thought. Good luck and keep us posted.

lanero's tip is a good one. I have used that idea to find problems. Break an old fuse, you have lot's of them now, right? Solder a wire onto each piece of metal fuse. Solder the other end to a 12 volt light bulb, like a brake light bulb. Insert into fuse socket CAREFULLY, or pull the negative battery cable first. You don't want needle nose pliers with unfused 12 volts touching something metal under the dash. Then just push on the neg cable again, and look for the problem.

Can't thank you enough Roger; it was a broken wire in the plow lights. Not obvious though, hidden in the pig tail. What a PIA that was. I used your method and it worked super.
THANK YOU AGAIN.
