A NON vented fuel cap used with Evaporative Emission will not fit the fuel filler tube of a truck without Evaporative Emission (Evap/Em) that uses a vented cap.
The Evap/Em non vented cap has 4 prongs, 2 above, 2 below 180 degrees apart. The Evap/Em fuel filler tube has a restrictor inside that the lower prongs of the cap fit into to.
Back then, there were two sizes of gas station nozzles. Leaded fuel nozzle was larger in diameter, would not fit into a Evap/Em fuel filler tube with a restrictor.
If the truck does not have Evap/Em and you install a non vented cap, the tank could collapse!
