My 2004 went overnight from fine to having issues with power. I'll have nothing, even after warmed up, the it would be fine. I noticed smoke under the hood, my regular mechanic said over his pay grade, take it to ford. Ford replaced crossover but said I had low compression in #2. Couldn't or wouldn't tell me why, did offer to replace engine for 15 grand. Next guy thought egr but trucks already bullet proof. They're saying it will cost more than its worth to fix, even though they don't know what's wrong with it. On one of the forums a guy recommended a place 2 hours from me but I can't get the truck that far without possibly damaging it. Raleigh, NC area, anybody know someone?

Rudy's is pretty close to you. Address: 1404 Christian Ave, Durham, NC 27705 (919) 383-9300
Not feeling any blow by. I didn't realize diesel mechanics were in short supply here. I've never had to do anything but oil changes, etc before now. New guy is saying maybe 2 bad injectors which doesn't sound to me like a death sentence.

Just warning. Whom ever you pick to do the repairs they better know their stuff on the 6.0 engines. Does not take too much searching to read horror stories of people who lost many thousands of dollars via bad 6.0 Diesel repairs.
I will PM you with a number of a guy close to Charlotte. If you have to pay to have it towed there (say $300) I would do it.

Trucks unlimited is closer to him than Charlotte. Your guy is a freakin idiot. Rudy's is a GREAT shop and highly recommended.
You will soon find out that when you ask for a diesel mechanic recommendation, every diesel mechanic is an idiot EXCEPT for the one used by the person you ask. But do not expect any real proof to back up the claims, LOL.
That said, I have heard lots of good things about Trucks Unlimited.
Found it! Thanks for the help, I think I'm already living the horror story of incompetence, especially the ford mechanic
Yep, my friend has a 2005 Ex with 6.0 with 74,000 miles on it. Had an oil leak but otherwise ran perfect. He took it to a local Ford dealership. They charged him $800 to replace an injector and chance a seal somewhere (cannot remember which one).
Within two weeks after the Ford dealer worked on the 6.0 engine it hydro locked. He did not have the money to fix the engine so he just let it sit (with coolant in the cylinders - yes, that was a mistake). Seems the bottom end may be toast now as well as the head gaskets.
Bottom line: If the mechanic working on a 6.0 diesel does not know his stuff, one is playing with fire. And never assume a mechanic assigned to repair your 6.0 at a Ford dealership knows anything about a 6.0.

You can spin it however you want, you're still trying to justify a bad repair decision on your truck. I don't give a damn how many "facts" you present. If you've never heard of Rudy's then maybe you need to do some more research like you should have done on your head "repair". I suppose Cheezit, M-Chan68, Big Inch and Run6.0run are idiots too??? I've never used them but wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, and have.
I, personally, have nothing to prove to you, or anyone else for that matter. My truck runs fine, the advice is free and you get what you pay for..!..
