A 360 has plenty of torque to pull a 3500 trailer......ideally you have either an Auto or a 4 spd manual, both are better suited to towing than the 3 on the Tree tranny. The door tags will list GVWR, not towing capacity. Personally, id want brakes on a 3500 lb trailer, surge are okay, but id prefer electric trailer brakes and a brake controller in cab. Make sure your cooling system is working properly, check brake fluid level, and adjust your tire inflation up to pretty much maximum inflation pressure as per the tire sidewalls
And dont forget when you are towing you have the trailer back there. That may sound dumb but it happens. A 3500 pound trailer will try to push a 1/2 truck.

only thing I'd add is +1 on the electric trailer brakes, and buy some minimum 8-10 ply tires, it makes a world of difference when towing heavy. I actually have 12 ply's on mine. Some of these so called LT tires are glorified car tires with light sidewalls.

12 plys? are you running 19.5 tires, cause almost nothing else in a current 16, 16.5, 17, 18 inch size goes over an E, 10 ply rating?
For 1975, the F-150 was introduced; as part of an effort to circumvent upcoming emissions requirements, the F-150 was designed with a heavier maximum payload (2,275 lb (1,032 kg) when properly equipped) than the F-100. With the half-ton F-100 still in production, the new F-150 was referred to as the "heavy half-ton."
The F-100 had a gross vehicle rating of up to 5,500 lbs.
thanks to my owner's manual (thank you Cracker289), I can tell you what it says
for an f100/150 with the LD pkg with a 4950 GVWR, max is 2000 lbs
for an f100/150 with the HD pkg with a 5500 GVWR, max is 6000 lbs, but it specs an aux tranny cooler and 800 lbs max tongue weight within the hitch class
