transmission oil

How many quarts of trans oil does a 94 f150 use ? I heard of 8-9 to 12. What is it really ?

8-9 if you only drop the pan. If you drain the torque converter as well your looking at 15-16 quarts. When I did mine I bought 20 quarts, dropped the pan, drained the torque converter, drained the cooler and added an external filter. I also drained my transfer case and refilled it. I used a total of 18 doing all of that to get it back to the right level. I highly suggest buying a pan with a drain plug when you drop the old one. It will make things MUCH easier the next time you do it.

Thanks for the help there Evan. I'll get that pan with a drain plug
