I've never seen this before.
After doing some major repairs to this truck, I took it out for a road test. I noticed it had bad turbo flutter on every shift. I pulled the turbo back off and took it apart. This is what I found in there:

Everything else looked normal. I had to chisel the ring off, so I have a feeling that it had been sticking for a long time. I have replaced a few unison rings because they were worn, but none were even close to wearing through like this one.

Does this truck have a good filter system OEM or lack of oil?
