2003 ford - erratic speedo and tach

I have a 2003 ford f250 diesel 6.0
Automatic 104,000 miles 4x4
The speedometer and tachometer jumps
All over ( mostly speedo) in park or drive
I replaced the speed sensor but same
Problem still. Any help is well appreciated.
Thank you.

Being it's speedo and tach I would suspect the gauge cluster itself. Sometimes just pulling it and wiggling connectors will help. Unfortunately factory soldering is often poor quality on the instrument panel.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to try myself to remove
The cluster myself for repair. Is this a tough job
On removing the cluster.
Thanks again for your input.

I haven't pulled one myself. The entire dash bezel comes off with no tools though and I believe you'll be looking at the mount screws when the bezel is out of the way.

It doesn't help your cause, but my 05 F250 speedo would wig out like a witch every now and then, but then it stopped and never did it again.

The TSB mentions replacing the entire cluster if it continues.

I just pulled out the cluster on my ford.
My question is can I start the truck to move
It out of my garage, with the cluster removed.
I'm not sure if something can happen if I start
It without the cluster installed.
Again thanks for any information.

I've never done it before but I can't think of anything it would "hurt" if it will start like that. I'm thinking it will be running off the batteries though, the BATT light and it's circuit is an important part of the charging system. Maybe it would be wiser to just plug it back in for a minute to move the truck.

Smile Cluster

I plugged it back in and moved the truck
To be on the safe side. I am sending the cluster
In for repair tomorrow. I will let you know
How it turns out.
Thanks again for the input. Your expertise
Is much appreciated.
