Well, as some of you remember I was on a couple months ago asking about opinions on the Excursion vs. Odyssey, Sequoia Etc. After many hours spent researching vehicles, we came to the conclusion that the 7.3l Excursion was for us! Which is greatly exciting to me, as its what i preferred since the start of this entire vehicle debate.
Now over the course of the past month Ive seen some great looking 7.3s sell with 150k miles for about $10k. Here it is just weeks before we acquire the rest of the cash, and they have all but vanished. Totally bumming me out to say the least, not one truck within a five state radius of us that i can find with those miles and price currently. Now I know, its probably due to the fact that they are desirable and tax refunds are giving people money to spend.
Anyone have any suggestions to locate one? Tried putting "WANTED" ads up which get flagged for no apparent reason...Auto trader is a joke these days out this way since everything went digital. If something doesnt change im Worried Im going to end up in a 1999 Caravan at this point
Same exact thing happened to me....they were everywhere until I had the cash. Be patient, and keep looking. Don't rush into anything. What state do you live in?

Im willing to travel into the following states: indiana, illinois, ohio, wisconsin, michigan....
Kentucky, missourri, iowa are really pushing it. Prefer not to go that far.
Thats for the positive words everyone! Just so excited to at the thought of getting one, yet they have all gone off the market it seems
The most I will look at is 3. Many people get hung up on little imperfections but it's not worth it. You can look at 10, buy one, and have the trans go out in a week. I learned that when I used to screen roommates years ago. Go with one and get over it.
U will find one. I was looking for a v10 with under 100k for under 10k and all the ones we looked at just wasn't it than all of a sudden found one with 43k for 10k in amazing shape. I live in md. I had to go to upper ny to get mine. Try cars.com and cl and eBay and there are a few apps that have cars for sale and that's where I found mine
I'd encourage you to NOT buy one from the rust belt unless it spent most of it's life elsewhere.
X1,000,000 It's worth the drive to get one with a solid body. The differences between my 01 and the one I bought in Texas are incredible. I even had it oil sprayed the first 7 years of it's life. It's not just the body it's all the brake,AC,fuel lines.

I am guessing I was one of the lucky ones. I have some rust but restoring old cars rust is no prob. Just have to know what u are looking at. Just make sure u get under that rig before u buy it.

I totally agree with everyone who suggests getting one out of the "rust belt". However, its about an eight hour drive from here to get out of the rust belt...and to be honest, Im not even sure if the truck we own now will make that drive and back. Would probably end up towing our SUV home with the new one. All the vehicles Ive owned have came from these "northern" states, all have had rust issues. However i have seen a few excursions for sale, that came from Southern States, I suppose that would be the next best option.
Now heres another question that i posted elsewhere, havent gotten any replies yet, so i thought to ask you guys. Ive noticed around here its hard to find a 7.3l Excursion with less than 175k miles for under $11k, and when they do pop up, they have had very minimal maintenance or repairs done. Yet there seems to be more of the 7.3s with 200k miles under $11k on the market, and those have extensive repair and maintenance records available. Now if you had to make a six hour drive for each of these trucks in separate directions with just this bit of info, which would you suggest looking at?
