The heater blower motor in my E350 is apparently burned out. Was making a grinding noise of late and today no noise (or heat) just smoke out the vents.
Very easy....Do you have a battery on that side ? If not..it is 3 10 mm bolts or MAybe 8 mm I forget...takes about 10 minutes....espcially if you do not have to remove and replace the battery ....like I do ...it still took me 15 min....If you go Junkyard cut it off with the connector...in case yours is different you can solder the Junkyard one on ....
No absolutely not ...Do you have a battery in front of it or not ? If no there are 3 screws and a connector...thats it ....in the Delta configuration ( Read Mercedes Benz symbol also known as ISOMETRIC ) ...All Econoline Blower Motors are the same from 1992-2005 ....IIRC
Ok Remove the Battery ..the get the top 2 screws 8 or 10 mm ( I forget) ...then you have to feel the bottom one...disconnect the rubber tube and connector and pull it out.....reverse proceedure to put it in UNLESS you need to solder on a new connector..I paid 25 Bucks for my last one at the Junkyard....
Buy it ....Here.......thanks to FREE TRADE we pay over 100.... I wish I had a cousin in Buffalo...Even with the 40 bucks in Diesel it would cost and the 3 hr. round trip ... I would still be ahead.....Just take yours out first to see if connector matches OR Not....Ford is retarded like that .....You are welcome otherwise....And be patient
OK. Got my new heater/AC blower motor installed on Saturday. It does not come with the squirrel cage fan so you need to remove the old one carefully. It does include a new press on clip for the fan, though.
My van has AC. Not working but it's there. I was able to wrestle out the unit alright but getting it back in required that I remove the three bolts holding the AC accumulator to the left side of the engine compartment.
That done I could shift it enough to get the fan back in.
The new fan (which came all the way from China... imagine that!) has a 2-pin male pigtail connector about 8" long. The OEM had a socket in the back of the motor.
Glad it's working 'cause Wednesday is supposed to be a mess here and I have a long drive to get to where I need to be early AM.
BTW: I only get the fan on the high setting. Nothing on the lower positions. Was the same with the OEM. In my VW Vanagon they have a resistor for low fan. Anyone know how it works with this van?
The resistor network would work the same on most heater blower motors----your's is most likely open across one or more of the branches. Might have to replace it too.
I didn't write that, but just looked at it yesterday. Trying to familiarize myself with these vans. I have to go pick mine up on Saturday. It has leaking exhaust manifolds.
