OK, I don't know what the specs are on a Bracket master cam, but anything set up for bracket racing is going to be terrible for towing.
Stick with under 270* advertised intake duration and I would go with comp.
I've ran a comp 268 high energy previously with great results and in my new build am running a Comp XE-262 xtreme energy cam which should do even better.
A milder choice would be the XE255
The oiling issues are only corrected when doing a full rebuild, just run good oil and make sure it has enough ZDDP or use a cam additive for flat tappet.
Valvoline VR-1 racing oil is my pic, and make sure the cam is broken in properly, it's very crucial.
One thing id recommend is to take a good look at your heads. Mine had a few ports that you could hardly get a pencil through. I don't know if it is a common problem but a good port and polish will certainly help either way
the bracket master is 290/300 duration 536/562 lift LSA of 112. big cam for the 400 but small compared to true bracket cams and full drag cams. with him having manual trans he won't have to get a stall converter. that's the biggy with towing.
