I have a 2011 F-350 6.2L that has extremely hard shifts from 3 to 4 going up and 2 to 1 going down. Sometimes on downshifts it feels like something has ran into the back of the truck. I had the computer updated when the truck had approximately 40,000 miles on it and he helped a little bit. The truck now has 140,000 miles and it is back to shifting horribly. I put it in the shop at the dealer on 30 December 2013. The dealer says that the problem is that the shift solenoids need to be replaced but that they are not available. The truck is still sitting at the dealer and I am being told that the parts should be available mid February. Has anybody else had issues with not being able to get parts to repair trucks?

That sounds crazy. Google these parts and Ill bet you find plenty. Even the "improved" updated versions.
What are the chances of all of these solenoids being bad at once. My bet is a misdiagnosis. Mark K will have some advice here. No wonder why I subconsciously steer clear of dealers! Id be inclined to locate a reputable trans shop that has plenty of experience with the 5R110W verses a dealers experimental surgery with their first 5R110W which is kinda of how it sounds. Second opinions are not a bad idea warranty or not its not worth the inconvenience of being w/o your ride for a month!
The MY 2011 is the 6R140 not the 5R110W. Early builds of both 250 and 350 had an issue with the solenoids. There is a TSB on it. I know my truck had the update and that was done back in 2011 IIRC per the Oasis report. One would think they would be able to get the solenoids much quicker due to the fact they have been around for awhile.
You might want to try to reach out the Ford Service, Crystal, on here. She might be able to get something expedited for you.
I called the Ford consumer line and was told that this was a dealer issue and they could not help me since I was over 100K miles. The dealer told me he could get parts tomorrow if I am willing to pay $900.00 to buy the whole assembly. I asked why they could not take to solenoids off of the assembly and then replace them on the assembly when the parts are available and they said Ford said no. I am being told by the dealer that 124 solenoids are shipping from the manufacturer on the 10 of February. I asked where the manufacture is located and is the means of shipment and they do not know. They are telling me they should have the part by the end of February and I should get my truck back by the first of March at the latest. It is sad that a 40k truck is useless because of $200 worth of parts and Ford doesn't care.
I have talked to several dealers and they all tell me that the part is on national back order and won't be available until mid to late February. It appears that Ford doesn't order parts until they are out.
Where is the Ford Service spoken of in the previous post?
