28 degree deltas
I typically wait for the Glow plugs to turn off (voltage above 13) - typically takes 2 minutes. Driving < 1 mile at 25mph (it's the posted speed) down my street gets my ECT above 100, when outside temp is 40-60 which is when the heat starts to work.
Not much point in a 10-min warm-up (w/o high-idle at least), unless it's really cold - IMO.
So I live in California so my options with the egr are limited, do folks recommend the bulletproof diesel coolers or weld it shut? I am an okay welder.
Also what about other aftermarket oil coolers that mount in different locations, wouldn't the oem cooler just get clogged again?
Ford have me a 3500 dollar estimates for oil and egr cooler replacement........

Lots of positive comments with the bulletproof unit.
I wouldn't even consider an egr delete here in Cal.
With smog checks intensifying, I'm not sure how long you could fool them.
Many with deletes can't get the OBD codes to clear. One easy way to fail.
Not sure about diesel but with gas, you have drive a minimum amount of time and conditions after lights out, before the system will approve.
I have heard of some passing with tunes but others say it can't be done so still looking into that.
My personal feeling is if you really want to delete it in CA do the up pipe mod, it can be swapped back to stock fairly easily. Just buy a spare off eBay for 25 bucks.
The stock oil cooler costs a lot less than BPD, so you have to decide for yourself. BPD is great, but if you flush out you system, run a coolant filter and go out with stock you should be fine.
You are in a similar situation I was. My EGR cooler failed so I couldn't flush the coolant properly. If you just install a new egr cooler, you risk failure because the oil cooler is plugged. If you do both, the oil cooler might plug because the cooling system wasn't flushed properly so what do you do?
Going to take it to a shop early next week. Is there anything else that may be important to check or replace while things are opened?
Thanks
High pressure oil updates like STC fitting. Not sure with your model year what all you need there
Get the updated oil drain and supply for the turbo too

Since your truck is an 04, I would really consider a new HPOP. The first two years had many issues with their carbon fiber oil pump innards exploding and contaminating the oil supply system.
I have a square cooler and no stc fittings as it is an 04
Thanks for the advice
