I finally scored a 79 high pinion 60 for my super cab. I tried to seach the site for info but either my searching stinks or the search feature is not the greatest here.
Anyway, I know it will "bolt up" but if anyone has gone from a 44 to a 60 or knows of a post on the cross over steering "do's and don't" i would appreciate any knowledge passed on.
My end result would be cross over with high steer.
I think i already found a possible headache, The 60 takes another 1.5 inches out of the driveshaft length. With a 6 inch lift and needing one more inch to level out, the front drive shaft is starting to look a lot like my old CJ5's rear shaft with a bad angle.
I have the crossover steering on my 79 f350 with front dana 60. very simple to do. the only difference to high steer is the drivers side kingpin cap/arm and the different tie rod. idk if you can reuse the stock one or not. I think maybe it is possible. I think with highsteer you have to relocate the passenger side shock to behind the axle. the drag link just touches the shock on mine.
stock Scab steering will work with the D60. When I swapped mine from D44-D60, I just connected everything stock. Only thing I had to change was the front DS, I used the one out of the F350 the D60 came from.
I just reread and saw you have 6" lift. I'll follow this to see where you get with the crossover as that will probably be my future plan. At first, I plan on just using the stock steering with my 6" lift. Drop arm doesn't bother me much, not like it can be any more of a pain than my current trucks steering.. :P
