This is exactly what I was hoping to find when joining this site! Thanks everyone for the advise and expertise. I'm by no means mechanically challenged but knowing some of the minuscule details going into a project saves a lot of time and even more importantly.....saves money! I can see me becoming a paying member so I can take full advantage of all FTE has to offer and also so I can post some pix of my swap. Thanks again!
This is a great site for sure, it's members have helped me out a lot!
You can post photos now, from your first post actually. Just have to use photobucket or some other hosting site then copy and paste the IMG code here, easy peasy and FREE!
Of course becoming a Supporter is cool too!

I use Imagur now since I had some problems with Pbucket and Chrome.

Go to the sticky threads (first threads listed...they say "Read First" in red) and click the one that say's "Excursion Forum Tech Folder."
Scroll down to the Suspension section and you'll see a ton of links I put there regarding spring swaps and spring info.
Prepare for a lot of reading and knowledge inflow!
OP; On second thought shackles probably wouldn't be the way to go with the extra 500 pounds. They would de-arch a lot and be very springy.
That was my thought too but I consider all advise and tips when asking a question or advise. We are tearing the donor down and gathering all the parts and pieces including the suspension then setting the SD in a snow bank out back because I'm sure something will get missed. Sooooo.....short story long.....I'll have the SD springs ready to go in.

Yup, I defiantly should've read first! I also found the v-10 to 7.3 swap which is going to be extremely helpful BUT a major majority of the pictures won't load. I'll have to do some playing with the settings on my PC and see if that's the problem. Thanks for pointing the threads out to me Stewart!!
