Pro's and cons for the Battery Tender Jr or Battery Tender Plus? My truck sits outside for about a month between uses. The lows for the area are around 40 degrees.
i have two battery tender Jr's that i hook my dirt bike battery to, my riding lawn mower, my marine battery for my boat for the trolling motor and every thing is always charged and starts....

different Amps, i would say, more amps faster charge, but for a tender trickle charge the lower amp or what ever is cheapest will work fine.
I have 2 harley`s hooked up to them now and i believe they increase battery life .
I use the jr. tenders on my lawn mower and my ATV and the plus chargers on all my non-daily use cars. They all work great, but the plus chargers are better in my opinion for maintaining a car battery.
I use the Juniors and the waterproof 800s.
You don't need the plus for your application being you're just maintaining.
The waterproof 800 is only a few dollars more but what's nice about it is you don't have to plug in the big transformer directly into your outlet. The 800 has a a 3 or 4 foot lead off the transformer. The 800 can literally be submerged in water with no ill affect. Great for my outdoor equipment.
I have 4 juniors and two 800's and switch them around on the below vehicles. All of these vehicles have there share of sitting around and the batteries will sulfate in as little as a year with minimal use. The battery tenders have increased the life of my batteries big time.
Thanks for the feedback. I just ordered a Junior and crossing my fingers it will be enough to keep both batteries topped off. Does it matter if I connect it to the primary or secondary battery?

You don't have to cross your fingers, the Junior will maintain both batteries just fine. I've been using them for years. Technically you should hook them up as per below schematic. Personally I have done it as described on my backhoes because the batteries are side by side. On other machines where the batteries are far apart, I hook up to one battery and can't see how it makes a difference.
form the Battery Tender site...
In Figure 9 we see a pair of 12-volt batteries connected in parallel. This 12-volt battery pack is connected to a single 12-volt charger. Note the blue wire designated W1. The purpose of this wire is to balance the voltage drop evenly across both batteries and each wire during charging. This is not critical for lower current chargers, but when you start to get into the 10 amp and above range, the voltage differential can be significant. The blue wire W1 must be connected to the opposite end of the battery pack as the black wire at the top of the battery pack.
if you are going to mount the unit permanently in the truck, just hook it up to one of the batteries and it will keep both topped off.
i use harbor freight 4 outlet surge protectors these days: Four Outlet Power Strip
and plug both the battery maintainer and the block heater into the surge protector, then run the single wire out the grill.
the one in the 88 has been in there for at least 20 years, the HF one has been in the 02 for 6 years now.
