has anyone installed a deezee tailgate assist with any luck? i tried installing but the factory hole seems too big for the nutset. mine is oblonged. let me know
I'm looking into buying one of these, and after reading other posts I am just going to skip the nutsert, and use a washer, lock washer and nut on the inside instead. Little bit more work to get a nut in there but it seems like the general consensus is that is works better than a nutsert.
I had no problem with it.. went on quickly and easily.. I would suggest looking at the online video first, it clarifies the process in my opinion, the written directions are a little vague
I just ordered one. The only question I have is if that shock should be holding weight? In a video I saw the tail gate cable didn't seem stretched all the way. Maybe The other side was holding it. Not sure. Can anyone confirm if the cables are lose or tight? If they are loose then its safe to say the shock is holding some thee weight of the door...

On my 13 Platinum the cables are both at full length when down just as if I didn't have the tailgate assist. I have to say I love the system. I also agree with the above statement about watching the video on installation. It made it much easier for me to understand how to install.
Mine went in without issue using the supplied equipment. You just have to be careful not to go too far with the tightening or it can damage the tailgate. It is a great little quick addition to the truck that really does help!
I've got one on my 2013 and it works great...seems kind of odd to not use much torque on that mount, but it hasn't come loose. I do like it and I installed it because we sleep in the back of the truck sometimes. It makes letting the tailgate down from the inside of the bed much nicer.
I purchased one last week.
Instead of the nutsert I'll be using a 10mm nylock nut and a 1" stainless fender washer that I've glued together. If you remove the tailgate panel you can screw the ball end directly into the glued nut/washer.
