Fords drinking problem

i will pay for the thrill of driving my truck anyday over a focus or any car. I put 31000 miles on my truck last year....all at 10-11 mpg. YA kno what though.....every last mile was worth it,,,well maybe not that one i got the ticket in......but i'd never trade drivin it for a car.

Fords drinking problem

I saw a show about Easter Island. It was apparently once covered with palm trees. They cut them all down to roll those big statues on. Well the statues got bigger and bigger which required more palm trees. Eventually some one had to cut the last of those trees knowing they were doomed since now they couldn't even build boats for fishing or to escape the fate of their own making.
America has something like 1/20th of the earths population and consumes 1/3 of the planets energy. I see a parelell between us and those good folks on Easter Island.
Someday one of us may use the last gallon of gasoline to drive his 10mpg truck to the 7-11 for a pack of smokes.
And hey, I'm an American too. My creed is why walk if you can drive, and 95 percent of the driving I do in my Powerstroke I could do in a much more efficient vehicle without stooping to the Focus.
We have to relearn the same lesson every few years. We learned it during the oil embargo of the early 70s. You couldn't give away a car that got 12 mpg, and people were on year long waiting lists for diesel VW Rabbits. People in the citys were waiting in line for hours( sometimes all night and part of the next day) just to get gas and you could't even find a station open on a weekend anywhere.
And I'd be willing to bet that a most of you who rabidly support you decision to drive a vehicle that gets 10 mpg weren't around for that. Enjoy it while you can

That is a very good point to have been made willowbilly, I have sometimes thought about putting a newer diesel in my 79 3/4 ton, but, I probably still have another 160,000k left on my 351m...@16mpg divided by 160000 miles times 1.75 per gallon of regular pump gas, I think I got a great deal on my 4x4 for 4000 with 77k original.....

I had the same truck, super cab C6 and 3:55 gears. If it would have gotten 16 I would still have it. It was the ugliest puke green that you ever saw tho.

The piston engine is inefficient and obsolete. When the oil wells dry up, technology will shine through. Maybe...hopefully
