Ford V10 Vs Chevy 6.0 Vs Dodge Hemi

CHECK out pickup truck.com as they are testing 7 trucks 3/4 tons gas, 1 ton deisels in a pull off,1/4 mile test one thing about the ford v10 3/4 ton is it weighs 1300 pounds more than the chevy or dodge 3/4 and it has 4.30 gears, to me the fords are just way too heavy. if it doesnt outpull the chevy with 10,500 pounds it will be a sad day for the blue oval. i hope it beats the crap out of them. Also i hope the powerstroke wins.

Heavy?
Yep.
A solid front axle will do that to the weight every time.
Thats why I like it. Better off road articulation, beefier parts ect.
I won't be buying any truck with IFS as long as I can get a solid axle!

Usually...I always side on the fact that lighter is better, but then we have to remember these are 3/4 and 1 ton "WORK" trucks. IMO...the FORD is better built...and the heavy side it a good thing.

Besides...what is the freaking point of having to be first in a drag race pulling 10+ lbs? In the real world...WHO cares? Maybe instead of having drag races with these trucks, they have a MPG test driving 55mph down the freeway towing 10+ lbs. Then do it again...at 65mph...while doing these tests, take "real world" measurements of the different temp's going on. Like oil, tranny, axles, water, power-steering, etc. Give us something that will offer a consumer...the best possible decision for a purchase that will last the long haul.

Those tests are silly...IMO!

Biz, you forget the average consumer worries about only two things.

How it looks, and how comfortable the seats are

A smaller percentage actually care that their truck can handle the load "better" than all the rest.

Meanwhile, even a Chevy will do an OK job

Completely agree.
How 'bout we see what they have left after ten years?! The "Ten Year Test" or 100,000 miles.

My plan is to keep my truck for 8 -10 years and get at least a 100K out of it. I try to buy them maintain them and keep them until they start costing me too much money.

I caught crap for saying what you just said. Lets buy a SRW 1 ton pickup that will tow a million pounds, and has 600 HP & 1000 torque. So the wife can haul the kids and 5 bags of grocery around town. Oh I forgot once a year they go camping and haul a 5000# boat or trailer. That you could pull with a 4L Ranger.
IMO way too many people are nuts. 95% of the truck owners never use 50% of what there truck can do. So who cares unless you are part of the 5% that use a truck for a truck. I tow a 10,000# Travel trailer with an 86 F250 4x4 460 and it does just fine. It's GVW is 8600#. I get 6.5-7.0 MPG towing. So what will a $50,000 new truck do different, Give me 5 more gal/mile maybe.

i'm still for the ford, but sadly the rags and other sites alway popoo our great and heavy trust worthie v10. saying the others are better.

well guys heavy they maybe, but i have a close buddy who owns one of the local marinas. he just had his 1999 v10 powered f350 4x2 sc in a head on. when a driver in a chevy diesel showing off come across the line into him. the chevy cumbled up like a toy .the driver had to be cut out . my buddy opened his door and walked to the cops and ambulance for a check over. all he had was a air bag burn on his face.

they can say what they want but we do have the strongest frame made for any pickup. i'll take the extra 1300 pounds of safty and my fords. and screw what they say about them.

thank you bother.

at age 60 i've seen and done a lot. but when it comes to pickups.i'll keep my fords. they have always been heavy and long running with the exception of my 04 sickOOHHH.plus i've only had 2 of the other brands and one i wish i didn;'t have to sell.that was my 63 vett with the z06 option pack i was forced to sell in 2004 after owning it for 41 years, the dodge well that i don't want to get into.

Heck, we also need a 20 year test too. My ol '87 has out pulled and out worked any other 20+ year old Dodge or Chebby. Heck I even out pulled a friends 85 3/4 Ram (It did have an automatic with 200,000 miles on it). Age is how you find out how a truck is really built.
